READ THIS IF:
- You’d stay in a haunted AirBNB.
- You’ve never heard of prosopagnosia.
- You’re craving an eerie wintery read set in the Scottish Highlands.
MY THOUGHTS:
Picture this:
You married the love of your life – but he has a clinical condition that prevents him from recognizing faces. Don’t worry, he still recognizes your “energy” when you walk into a room. #Blessed. Your marriage is in shambles, so in a last ditch effort to save your marriage you book a romantic getaway to an ‘all-too-good-to-be-true’ AirBNB in the Scottish Highlands. Without cell service. And you’re snowed in. And someone may be stalking you. But if they were… would your husband even notice?
ENTER THE ULTIMATE VILLAIN OF THE STORY: PROSOPAGNOSIA.
*DUN DUN DUN*
This book contains journal entries that throw the story line back and forth, which typically doesn’t work for me. In most cases, I feel that this slows down the story more than adding to it but it’s the exact opposite here. It genuinely adds to the story, even if it doesn’t seem relevant at the time.
I recommend this book to all thriller lovers, especially if you crave the multitude of twists and turns thrown at you in the third act.
I also highly recommend highlighting/marking your favorite passages as you go. Re-read them when you’re done. You will interpret them in an entirely different light. Guaranteed.
P.S. The dog lives.
